A few years ago I was looking for a torch to put in my go bag. Being a fairly cautious person and a very discerning buyer, I began searching the web for the most durable, reliable and best performing torch available for my limited budget.

I had previously owned and used various different brands of torches before, but none had ever lasted or performed the way I had always hoped. I wanted something strong, durable, something that looks cool and doesn't burn through batteries like they're going out of style.

I spent weeks reading reviews and watching videos online and one brand kept consistently getting mentioned - Olight. I had never heard of this brand before but the more I researched the more positive things I found. I watched one particular durability test on the Olight Seeker 2 Pro and was blown away by what I witnessed. This thing took an absolute beating and not only did it keep working, but it didn’t show any signs of damage! I decided to purchase one and see for myself if the hype was real. Being a very skeptical person I honestly wasn’t expecting too much - you can’t believe everything you see after all.

My order arrived very quickly and when I opened the box I was honestly blown away. Never in my life have I ever seen products come in such amazing packaging. The box the torch came in felt and looked extremely premium - it even had a magnetic closure! My mind was blown! I’ve purchased plenty of electronics, knives, perfumes etc before but the packaging this torch came in was absolutely phenomenal. That may seem like a strange detail to get hung up on, but the attention to detail this company put into its packaging shows that they are proud of the product and want you to love it as much as they do.

So what about the torch itself? Well after removing it from the very luxurious packaging, I gave the torch a very thorough inspection for any marks, dents or flaws - there were none. It felt solid, durable and very premium. I was very impressed. The holster it came with has a very satisfying clip in closure that felt durable and snappy.

I read through the instructions and placed the unit on its initial charge as directed. The magnetic charging cable clapped onto the base of the torch with a satisfying and determined click and lit up. I came back later and saw the light was green and eagerly grabbed the torch to test it out. HOLY COW! What a beauty! This thing literally lit up the room. I mean I turned it on and it actually lit up the entire room. I cycled it through the different brightness levels and each time it got brighter I was absolutely astounded by how bright it kept getting! I had never had a flashlight this bright before. I tested all of its listed features and went outside for an evening walk to see how far the beam would throw. The result? It shone further and brighter than I would ever realistically need it to.

The bold 3200 Lumen beam shot out for about 250 meters. It’s hard to find a product that actually lives up to the hype and does everything that it claims to do, but the Olight Seeker Pro 2 delivered. The built-in indicator lights - right side for charge level and left side for brightness - are so convenient and easy to use. No more turning on a flashlight only to realize that it needs new batteries! It’s so comfortable to carry on your person and hold in your hand plus it looks great! It’s also drop proof to 1.5 meters but I personally think that it could handle more than that as it is built like a tank! It’s also IPX8 waterproof which means you don’t have to worry about using it in wet conditions or even dropping it into water.

The video I watched of a man dropping it into a puddle and running over it with a car is what sold me on this light - Never would I plan on doing that to any product, but it's just good to know that if you loaned this to some careless neighbor you're likely to get it back in one piece.

So what can you use this beautiful beast of a flashlight for?

Well I have used it for walks around the park and going along some trails. It really is fantastic for bushwalking and looking for animals at night. I have used it for security duty at my local church and walking people to their cars in the dark car park. Its medium brightness setting is perfect for adding extra light to a room for zoom meetings and video conferences! Just stand it up pointing at the ceiling and all your lighting worries are over! I have even used it to search for dropped items under the fridge and kitchen counters! I have so much fun using this torch I almost forgot why I bought it!

I was and still am extremely happy with this product. I can confidently say that it fits all of my needs and does so with incredible style. The build quality, precise attention to detail and of course the ultra luxurious packaging really makes me wonder how they can deliver such a great, premium quality product for such reasonable prices. While Olight products are definitely not cheap to buy, the extremely high quality of the product and value for money is second to none. I feel extremely confident that this product is a “Buy It Once For Life” type purchase. I have owned it and used it regularly for over 2 years and it has always performed flawlessly. It still looks brand new - even after a few drops! And yes, I still have the box it came in. I love this torch and I recommend anyone looking for a strong, durable, bright, high quality flashlight to purchase an Olight.
